Stoic, expressionless, indifferent, ruthless, and speaks monotonously… but she has a lot going on underneath. Takes things literally and sarcasm often flies over her head, much to Ardyn’s eternal amusement.

Born as “Lauren Castiglioni,” Law grew up as the only child of affluent yet loving parents in the Niflheim Empire. A daemon attack in her childhood left her as the sole survivor of her family. Though she escaped with her life, she had gotten infected with the Starscourge from the daemon’s claws. Orphaned with no hope or purpose in her life, she had accepted her fate of the blight spreading in her veins and turning her into a daemon…

As she acts as Imperial Chancellor Ardyn Izunia’s right hand, this is symbolized by her wearing a wing accessory on her right arm to match the one Ardyn wears on his left. Those in the Imperial army refer to her as the “Chancellor’s Right Wing.”

The right half of her body is consumed by Starscourge infection, and the dark patches of corruption resemble coeurl spots. She wears bandages to cover up her daemonic eye and any other exposed infected parts of her skin from view.

… Until one day, she was approached by Imperial Chancellor Ardyn Izunia. Revealing to her his true identity as the daemonic Adagium, he offered to extend her lifespan by slowing down the progression of the Starscourge in her body using his unique control over its corruption. In exchange, she would devote the rest of her life to serving under him until her dying breath. In addition, Ardyn had her forsake her family name of “Castiglioni” entirely; instead splitting her birth name “Lauren” into the new identity of “Law Ren”. (With “Law” having an additional hidden meaning for her acting as an extension of him in enforcing his ‘law’ onto Niflheim and the rest of Eos.)

Her right hand that she keeps hidden underneath the wing accessory has turned into claws from her (albeit halted) progression into a daemon; she can manifest “extended” claws using daemonic energy, and they act as her main weapon.

Has a “coeurl eating the sun” tattoo on her left arm which acts as symbolism for her role in aiding Ardyn’s ambitions to plunge the world into eternal darkness.

An elder coeurl (elder coeurls are a subspecies in Eos without any color pigmentation on their fur) named Shambles. As she uses her coeurl as a war mount, she wears specially tailored clothes to prevent her from getting shocked by the electricity he generates.

Despite Law’s job involving killing people, she has a soft spot for animals… with coeurls being her favorite, of course.

Backstory…

She is secretly a huge fan(girl) of the Lucian Marshal on the opposite side of the war, Cor Leonis; she has a hidden collection of his memorabilia (mainly Crownsguard propaganda posters) that she had smuggled into Niflheim’s borders, leading to comedic situations where she remains completely stoic-faced and professional while screaming internally about how much she loves the Marshal.
